Default kuryakyn or HD forward controls?

I got a low rider and want to dump the mid controls. They give me cramps using them, and want to just go straight up forwards.

Anyone had a good experience with either of these? What is the difference in them, why is Harley's about $70 cheaper than kuryakyns?

Also, does either kit come with an item to put in the primary side where the foot peg is, to fill in that hole?

THANKS!!!!!!!

I like my Kury's. They didn't come with the extras to fill in the primary gap, but came with a cap for the original shifter. It doesn't look bad with the chrome cap, but if you want to take that out you can get a cover from HD for about 20 bucks.

The Kurys are chromed and I don't believe the HD ones are. The Kury's look better overall IMO also.

As far as the original shifter shaft goes, just cut it off and pop a small freeze plug into place. This also looks much better than putting the butt ugly chrome plug over the old shaft.

I have the HD and it's awesome. The fit and finish are first class and most parts are chromed.
Comes with every single bolt/nut/washer/gaskets and detailed instruction.
If you going to take the original shift rod out, I definitely suggest HD.

Here's my 2 cents. The Kury's retail for $399. Don't pay that because you can get them at least 100 bucks cheaper online. I bought mine over a year ago from Eastern Performance via ebay for $299 shipped. I don't know the retail on the HD kit so I don't know how the prices compare with the discount on the Kury's.

The reasons I chose the Kury set are as follows:

- To me, they looked beefier and "blingier" than the HD setup.

- They are easier to install because they don't require removal of the primary cover. Just use the supplied locking clip to hideway the mid-shifter linkage point and put a chrome cap over the old spline. While I might be willing to try and install the HD kit today, I wouldn't have felt comfortable doing it back then and the HD kit would have been much more expensive after paying for labor to have it installed.

- They are much easier to remove and go back to mid-shift. I don't need or want to ever do this. However, if I ever sell my bike, the buyer may want mid-controls. Since none of the mid-shift components were removed, this can ben done quickly and easily and I don't lose a buyer because of forward controls.

I assume you've probably seen the Kury's. Here are some pix to try and show how they look installed. Perhaps someone can post some of a HD setup so you can compare. You really can't go wrong either way.

I have the HDs and after looking at some of the detail above, I like the Kurys better but won't be changing mine out for the small difference in the mount design.
