i have a harley forkbag. mine does not have strings... if so i would cut them off. i mounted mine below the headlamp.the buckle end is short and goes just past the left tube of the fork on the back side. the other end goes around back of the right tube, then in front of the headlamp mounting bracket. and buckles behind the bag and i tuck the excess strap in front of the headlamp mounting bracket... if you can fallow what i said...

My HD bag had two leather straps that you were supposed to wrap around the fork tubes. They were worthless, so I tossed the straps and used two "supersized" zip ties. They are about 1/2 inch wide. Threaded them thru the slots in the back of the bag where the leather straps had been and zipped them to the fork tubes. 4 years later, they are working fine.

bobber,
Yours looks good flappin in the breeze.

I didnt like the ones out there so I made my own. Rather than have the leather strap and buckles, I used black latigo lace and tied it off inside the bag. It was either that or zip ties.
Now, if someone makes a chrome zip tie.......

One strap threaded through the bag. Behind the left fork, in front of the headlight mount, behind the right fork (being careful to not put it around the flexible brake line - you'll bend the crap out of it when you tighten it - don't ask me how I know) buckle on the outside of the right fork and thread excess into slit in bag. No pics available. I take mine off when I wash so I wouldn't like the zip ties unless they can be removed easily.
