New Exhaust on My Fat Bob
Hey all,
I just picked up my 08 vivd black fat bob(w. forwards) last week. The bike now has 55 miles on it. I want to get some way louder pipes for it (stock is like a sewing machine). But do I have to wait for the break in before I get louder pipes?Never had a brand new bike before. Also what are people's reccomendations for new LOUD exhaust. I was thinking V&H Big Radius. If anyone could give suggestions (with rough pricing) it would be greaty appreciated!

I would think you would be ok, aslong as you do a race tuner and air cleaner as well, Just make sure you use a map that is not too lean. I see new bikes come from the dealer all the time with aftermarket pipes, tuners, and air filters.
The best person to ask is the stealer you got it from. They may have to do the work so that it does not cause any warrenty issues.

I put Vance and Hines Short Shots on mine with the fuelpak. Plenty loud. Check the link below my signature. I recently put the stock pipes back on and Rush 2.0 Slipons a little too quiet but sound ok. To answer your question drag pipes (short pipes are the loudest). Big Radious are also very good. Check Youtube for some sound clips to give you an idea.

if all you want to do is change the pipes then you dont need to spend 600.00 for a race tuner . go to the tech section and read the thread on the xied's that may be the best solution , or if you are going vance and hines just go ahead and get a stage one air cleaner along with the pipes and the vance and hines fuel pack.

I love my Vance & Hines Big Shot Staggered pipes. I put them on myself at 400 miles on the bike. Ran it for 200 miles before I stuck the Arlen Ness high flow air cleaner and the PCIII on. It runs perfect. Call Jamie at fuelmoto.com. He can set you up with the entire package to include pre loading the PCIII for your set-up. You can save yourself about $400 by doing the install yourself, plus you learn a little about the bike. I'm no wrench, but Im glad I did the install myself.
If it's loud your looking for, go with shorter pipes.
