Nightster style fender project for Street Bob
Here are a couple of pics of the fender project I took on recently. I got the fender "blank" off Ebay for $25 and got to work. I had no prior metal working skills but it turned out well. I have many other pics to document the process but didn't want to take the time to post them if there isn't any interest.
I wanted the smooth cross section for the rear fender instead of the stepped cross section found on the stock fender. I'm going for a vintage hot rod look with my bike. You can tell the paint job isn't too good. I need more bodywork experience. I planned to have it professionally painted when funds allow. I think I'll stay with vivid black and hot rod flames. I also plan to buy lower shocks to bring the fender closer to the tire. Soon I'll get the HD turn signal stalks to bring the turn signals in closer. Brake light/license plate bracket is courtesy of Dreamweaver. I took detailed photos of the wiring job too and was able to wire it without using the stock circuit from the brake light. Very clean underneath the seat.
Let me know if you want more pics.

Nice work, shorter shocks and a bigger tire will pull it all together nicely. And now you get to relieve me as official answerer of all fender chopping questions. And you don't really need shorter stalks to pull the signals in tighter just shorter bolts and you can bolt the signals up without the stalks straight to the frame rails.

Another vote for more pics of the whole bike. And I agree that lowering it and going with a fatter tire (SE 180?) will really make that fender look great. BTW-this mayneed to be postedin the under $50 thread (if you stayed under that cost).
