Default Lock Tight???

Brother took his bike to the dealer before a 1500 mile ride. During his ride his S&amp\\;S air filter and cover came off and was lost forever. Dealer said, "We used lock tight, so not our problem." 195.00 to replace it. [:@]OUCH

Have your brother go back screaming! Ask for the owner, and explain what happened. Someone in the service department is feeding you a line of bull crap!

+1. If they used Loctite, it wouldn't have come off. Whether they did or not, it is still their responsibility.

CSI the female thread holes on the backing plate for trace evidence of loctite.

I have only had lock tight fail once and it was on a worn bolt on my exhaust tip for my crf 450 and it only backed out a bit. I have three types of lock tight in my garage blue for every day stuff, red for high risk and green cylinder sleeve for stuff I never want to come loose or ever come off, ever, used it on my crank bearings on my crf 450.

I would definitely speak to the owner of the shop. Downside is my diplomatic skills aren't so good.
