Rear tire on a dyna... how many miles?

Stock tire, generally anywhere upwards of 10k max. I got about 7 out of mine but it wasn't completely bald when I replaced it. One thing I'm not going to put off and it's tires. I want all the grip I can get, especially when it's wet. It depends on how you ride, how well you maintain your tire pressures, and I think your weight and the types of roads you ride on have something to do with it too. Around here, the backroads where I like to ride a lot are very coarse pavement and I weigh about 240 pounds. I think those 2 factors had a lot to do with my wear as I keep a close eye on pressures and have never spun the back tire. Metzeler makes a good quality, long mileage tire. Michelin has some harley compatible tires out now too and they are known for long mileage tires.

I have 9K on mine now and will be replacing soon. 2/32 tread left. I weigh 160lbs. Wouldn't ride it too hard if it gets wet outside. I don't think you'll get more mileage on metzelers. They are a soft compound tire with good grip but should be short(er) life much like the Dunlop SE 180. Some go to radial tires and will get longer life. I don't worry about how many miles I get on tires or how many MPG on fuel. It is what it is!

I just replaced my rear tire. I have been getting about 7600 out of them. When I checked on other brands, people told me they were getting less mileage out of the other brands. I stayed with the Dunlops. I too replace them before they are bald. I would rather be safe than save a few dollars. The price of a tire is a lot less than replacing the bike or paying for surgery.
