Ok guys I know this is probably the wrong place to ask this but you guys seem to know what your talking about. I'm going the opposite way Dyna wheel to a Deuce mine is an 04 but I'm looking to put a 06 or newer 40 spoke out back. The first question is are the berrings the same O.D. size? And will the 3/4 axle spacer work in the Dyna wheel? Any help would be appreciated, thanks in advace.

 

I have been looking to do this since the day I picked up my 06 back in 05!!
Some people just love those ;lace wheels. I like the look of the lace on the front, it just looks like **** on the back. I am ordering the axle kit of of ebay. Im just waiting for the sellers to respond to a few questions. Someone I know used the 3/4" axle with collars. It looked good however, The dyna is a bit heavier in the ***. One question I have for you guys that already completed this DYNA-MITE (My word for the Look! If you use that word please pay me royalties) Did anyone use the shorter shocks? Also, if you chromed it, Hows it holding up? I was thinking about having the triple plated nickle done. It is 20 times more durable. If I end up going with the nickle plate then the exhaust will get done too! I had my 03 sporty done in nickle and it has that golden air to it.

 

I just completed this mod on my '96 Lowrider. Also added the Deuce fender which proved to be the hardest part. Was even able to use the Deuce drive belt. Now it looks like a pro stocker. I also swapped the narrowglide for the Deuce frontend and 21" wheel, then narrowed a Roadglide front fender 2"...Looks sweet! fbid=1465730217998&set=a.1261213665212.30173.16758 15250&theater[/IMG]

 

How was the spacing on the 08? I just purchased a deuce wheel to run on my 09 dyna. I was curious if custom spacers will need to be made to get everything lined up or if there is simply a kit that I can buy to run the deuce wheel on my 09 dyna? I am aware of the fact that I will have to take the wheel to the machine shop so that I can use the inner wheel bearing spacer for the 25mm axle.

 

I have a Deuce wheel I intend to put on my 010 FXDC. I'm pretty sure there is a bearing spacer kit available from HD. Should be the same as yours. As far as I understand with the kit there is no machining necessary.

 

Does anyone know the part number for the correct wheel bearing/spacer kit to run a deuce rear wheel on a 08'-present dyna?

Good to hear, that is exacty what I ordered this morning. Hopefully, it will be straight forward with that kit, after my wheel is machined to take the inner wheel bearing-support spacer.

 

Yep, should work. I didn't have to machine the wheel as the one I ordered was already done. Make sure to follow the instructions for your model closely as the install kit has extra stuff that you don't need. The first time I missed that I needed a shim behind the rotor side bearing and had the pleasure of installing it all twice.

 

Alright, I need some input. In the first picture (left) I have a 3/4" bearing that came out of the used deuce wheel and (right) the new 25mm bearing with the bearing shim from the 41451-08B wheel install kit.41451-08B

This clearly shows that the bearing shim accounts for the difference in bearing widths. However, there is only (1) shim in the kit. In the directions it clearly states that the single bearing shim is to be placed behind the bearing on the rotor side of the wheel.

Then the spacer that goes between the bearings is placed in the wheel and the the other bearing is pressed into the wheel on the pulley side so that it comes into contact with the spacer thus achieving the necessary spacing between the bearings (accounting for the difference in bearing widths).

In the next picture (left) the original 3/4 bearings and spacer, and (right) 25mm bearings, spacer, and shim.

You can see that (right) the bearing shim accounts for the difference in width of the bottom bearings, and that the 25mm bearing spacer provides the same overall outside-edge-to-outside-edge measurement for both the (left) 3/4" and (right) 25mm bearings. However, if you can visualize this installed in the wheel...you will notice that 25mm bearing on the pulley side of the wheel (top in the picture) does not have any side support on the inside edge of the outer bearing race. When installing the 25mm bearing on the pulley side the inner race will make contact with the spacer before the inner edge of the outer race contacts the inner face of the wheel.

I realize that I may be doing a poor job of explaining my concern.

Those you who actually *HAVE* installed a 3/4" or 1" wheel on a 25mm axle, did you notice this? (I say this because the 3/4" and 1" wheel bearings are wider than the 25mm bearings.) With a very limited background in engineering this sort of jumped out at me. I know that I am following the Harley directions to the letter. But this bugs me and I want to get some other input before I run it.
