Default Oil temp guage

I have an 09 FXD and have been looking or an oil temp guage of some kind. I don't see that the dip stick kind is available from HD. Anyone got any ideas?

I picked this one up from Greg at Jerzee Customs, awesome quality and a great guy to deal with.

I've looked into this for a couple of months now. I decided against the dip-stick model because you can really only check it after the fact. Which is still useful info, just not as useful as seeing what is going on as you ride.

Everybody told me a couple of things:
#1 It doesn't matter. Its only going to scare you knowing. Just run synthetic oil and you're OK.
#2 Nobody makes one for the 07-09 FXD anyway.

That is until I was traveling and stopped in at a Harley dealer and saw an oil temp gauge on the clearance table that said something like '2003 and up.'
So I asked the parts guy. He looked it up and said "yep it'll work on your bike." So I bought it.

It won't work. The reason is that there are no external oil lines on our bikes to plumb into. Not to be deterred, I was planning on getting an oil cooler anyway, so when I do, I'll have a line to plumb into.

Bottom line for me is I like information. I like knowing what is going on. Ignorance is not better.

Anyway, thats my story FWIW.

Mud,

Thanks for the pictures - a real nice setup. I love that you've got both temp and pressure gauges.

What is the LED light for that looks like it is pointed back at you from between the Tach/Speedo?

I think that's Mud's shift light from memory. Mud you have done some cool mods to your bike, you certainly have a talent.
