Damn engine is ticking - that "sewing machine" noise is getting worse!
Hey guys,
I've got a very noticeable 'ticking' noise coming out of my engine. It is DRIVING ME NUTS!!!!!!!! Is this normal or what? From the best way I can describe it, its the "sewing machine" engine noise, but progressively getting worse. Is anyone else experiencing this? I'm going to try that lucas oil additive when I change my oil again, but until then, is there anything else I can look at?

[quote=JRK5892;4503660]you can not go back to dyno, your seals will not take it and will seap... Adrian, i am telling you man... 20oz of lucas additive man, i used it for years now... dyno oil will break down much faster than a synthetic anyway...[/quote/]
Are you completly nuts?? You can go back to dino and not worry about it.

Uh oh, here we go.
Well, I don't want to use anything but synthetic, so I guess I'll just do an oil change much sooner then planned. I'm going to give that Lucas oil additive a try. Now, just use the whole bottle of the 20 oz. additive, then ~2 quarts of 20/50 synthetic, correct? Do you order your stuff online? I don't think I've seen that oil at Autozone anywhere.. hmm

ahhh ok ok... i get mine at auto zone... i have only built 3 motors in my life and 2 car motors so i may be wrong... but i have always been told and practiced once you switch you never go back... have seen studdies showing both that you can and that you can not... i did on my CB750 and had to replace all the gaskets on the head, jugs, and both side cases in the motor (my 2nd rebuild) after 2 months at dino oil, all of which has oil seeping out, (so i did an 883 kit)... so in my PERSONAL experiance no i will never ever swap from syn to dino again... is it hard fact... NOPE, i dont have the degrees in those fields to back it... but i have school of hard knocks and frustration that have taught me much more... again, i am not saying it is fact, just my own opinion.
