Default FXD triple tree conversion

Hey fellas, I'm interested in your feedback regarding converting my '02 FXD to a WG triple tree, and a 16' front wheel. Essentially, I'm thinking of a Dyna "Fat Glide"

I did come across a local manufacturer of H-D parts in NH...Called Vulcan Engineering. http://vulcanworks.net/store_4/produ...&cat=11&page=1

I was thinking of these trees, and all I would need is a genuine H-D 16" front wheel, and front fender, and bottom mount headlight. Does anyoen have any experience that they can offer with this one? Thanks in advance for the info.

I thought about doing the conversion as well, minus the 16" wheel. I read a couple of posts on this forum about guys never receiving their stuff from vulcan and having little luck with their customer no service so be careful. It made me think twice and look for other options. If you order from them, let us know how it went and what you thought of their product. Good Luck.

I installed a 1999 wide glide front end on my 08 street bob and i only had to mod the bottom tree so it would not hit the frame when you turn. I also putting a 16 inch fatboy front wheel and fatboy fender on it soon

I am curious, how did it affect the handling?

None really. In fact i think it handles a little better that it did before. You have to look at it like this The Fat Bob is a wide glide with a 16 inch tire on it. So how can it handle much different.

I've been thru what you're going thru looking for options. I looked at Vulcan & didn't want to risk to going round & round with 'em if their stuff wasn't right. There are good, quality machinists & there are hacks, if you know what I mean. Do a search on this & other H-D websites on Vulcan for a broader view.

I went with a stock 41mm WG front end so I could keep my fork lock & everything would fit right. IMHO, I think your 39mm tubes w/ wide trees & a fat 16" wheel might look a bit spindly. Quite a few WG, Night Train, & ST Std. owners have put 16" wheels on their fronts.

Default Vulcanworks So Far So Good

I just purchased the wide glide kit from vulcan works and had no problems with the customer service or shipping or quality. I just installed my wide glide kit but have not had it on the road. Still snowing here and I still have tons of mods to finish before I test drive her. I'll let everyone know how it handles after going from narrow to wide glide.
