Mounting the night rod fairing to 06-09 dynas
I've been getting a lot of questions about mounting fairings lately. So I figured I would try to do a thread on how to mount them. I'm starting with the fairing that I get the most questions about and the one that's the most simple to mount. Most call it the night rod fairing. HD calls it a headlamp visor...part # 68971-98B. They list it for softails . But it works perfectly on the newer 06-09 dynas. It was originally on HD's CVO wideglide(sometimes referred to as the SwitchBlade.) Then it re-emerged on the night rod. Same fairing / visor...different bikes. I ran one on my 08 Street Bob up until recently switching back to a Ness Fairing. This thing is EASY to mount and comes with everything needed to mount it. The ONLY issue you may have, is spacing the headlight a little forward to keep the fairing from touching your risers.
Below is the fairing/ headlamp visor I'm referring to.
Part#68971-98B (PRIMER)
This what you get. The fairing and mounting cup + screws
This "cup" fits around the head light bucket and bolts to the fairing.
remove the headlight from the trees and place the "cup" over the headlight bucket.
Take the fairing and place it on the front of your headlight, attach the fairing and cup with the bolts provided in the kit.
Now just mount the headlight back to the trees and you're done!!
Hopefully this helps....I'll do a how to on the Ness fairing in the future if anyone is interested. It's a little more involved than this simple as pie Nightt Rod fairing.
