HD Race Downloads?

RE: HD Race Downloads?
Is there a map available for the SERT, or that comes with the SERT, that's close the these components:
SEII slip-on tapered mufflers (p/n 80061-00)
SE A/C
8 degree injectors (stock)
I'm assuming that a map that's "close" to this spec with the SERT, is better than the Stage 1 download.

RE: HD Race Downloads?
PowerCobra and I worked together on these maps. We both spent a lot of time doing data recordings with the sert, then making small changes to the maps. Like he said, different conditions exist in different areas of the country - riding terrain, altitude, fuel quality, weight of riders and passengers.. etc... not to mention the differences in each bike. The sert is a fantastic tool and you shouldn't hesitate to purchase one. I know of no other way to completely tune an engine and never get your hands dirty. The difference in power and acceleration between a bike running the HD download and a bike with a decent map is like night and day. Not to mention that the bike runs cooler and gets great gas mileage too.

RE: HD Race Downloads?
Guys, had my bike dyno'd by an HD dealer. Initially, they were not going to give me a copy of the SERT map. But, finally got it. I felt that they MAY NOT have been knowing how to dyno using the SERT. Looking below, these are the only tables that have changes - as compared to the 127LF004 map.
My question is: Does it seem normal that the VE for the front would have such drastic changes on the high end?
I'm really wondering if they actually loaded and dyno'd with the HD download and threw this map together after I pressed them for a copy.
Thoughts?

Guys, had my bike dyno'd by an HD dealer. Initially, they were not going to give me a copy of the SERT map. But, finally got it. I felt that they MAY NOT have been knowing how to dyno using the SERT. Looking below, these are the only tables that have changes - as compared to the 127LF004 map.
My question is: Does it seem normal that the VE for the front would have such drastic changes on the high end?
I'm really wondering if they actually loaded and dyno'd with the HD download and threw this map together after I pressed them for a copy.

RE: HD Race Downloads?
I know many here have taken the challenge to tune their bikes using the sert with great success. I think it's safe to say that we have the ability to boost performance, eliminate all the driveability issues of the factory maps, and maintain good economy in cruise mode on the closed loop systems. 3 or 4 of us will be popular guys around here when the entire lineup gets this ECU system for '07.
That said, probably the best setup for tuning these bikes and really dial in the tune is with that Twin Scan 88+/ WEGO kit from Daytona Sensors using the factory o2 bungs. The WEGO reads the exhaust and compares the actual A/F ratio with the target A/F ratio from the map and determines the proper VE changes. For me, this means being able to safely lean out the 100 MAP to 13.2:1 for max peak horsepower rather then the safe, one size fits all 12.5:1. Can't dream of doing this without having the VE table tuned properly! It means we can tell how much the closed loop bias MV settings actually effects the A/F ratio in closed loop mode. I find the FI tuning on these bikes to be great fun and a change from what I'm used to.
I just can't see using a tail pipe sniffer to pinpoint values for sert tuning. Exhaust reversion really throws off the readings for precise tuning but I'd use the sniffer on the road for a birdseye view buit not much more then that.

Here is the web page (http://www.daytona-sensors.com/Twin_Scan.html) for the Daytona Sensor that FL799 was speaking of. Seems to be really good tool and not unreasonably priced considering what it can show you. Just not practical for one person to buy but if we could maybe share it among a few people it might be worth while to make some maps to share with everyone. Just a thought

RE: HD Race Downloads?
I have had trouble with my 2006 DWGI from the beginning, hard starting and surging between 1200 to 2000 RPM (15 to 25 MPH). The local HD dealer replaced the injectors in January 2006. Hard starting was cured but the surging was still there. I had the HD Stage 1, SEII Mufflers and the SE A/C installed - no help. I put 1200 miles on the bike, installed Python Dual Staggered Exhaust with quite baffles, bought SERT Rev E and had the bike Dyno tuned on 4/13/06 at another HD Dealer. The dealer apologized that they could not eliminate surging and explained it was a design problem. I have unsuccessfully tried numerous MAPs from this forum and friends. With frustration mounting, I took the bike back to the HD dealer to get the surging resolved on May 3, 2006. They performed tests and said there were no error codes the bike is fine. The Harley Davidson factory representative and I discussed the problem 05/08/06, he rode the bike and told me that I would have to get used to the surging, there was nothing that could be done, it is operating within designed limits.
I went for an hour ride this evening. Stop at Starbucks for some coffee. While going through the parking lot the bike started its surging act. This is embarrassing.
One more thing, The HD Rep said the warranty on the ECM was void because I had the SERT installed. If I wanted them to look at this problem again, I would have to put in a new ECM with the factory map and re-install the OEM exhaust.
Many people feel EFI, the SERT and Dyno Tuning are the cure all for the 06 Dynas. I hear to tell you there not! I have put a lot of money into this science project with little satisfaction.
