3 quarts is if its dry, like for a new motor or a motor over haul. A normal fluid drain only requires 2.5.

i see, well since posting that marvel mystery oil thread last week and running it in my gas i went ahead and did my ususal two quarts of valvoline 20w50 4 stroke cycle oil and a half a quart of the marvel mystery didn't seem to notice

any immediate improvement except for the usual fresh oil change feeling but i also finished it off in the gas tank so its the mystery machine now

Acckhh evrything here is litres, but if you fill it to the second to last from top line cold with the filter full you are golden . Any more will just come puking out into the air filter each time you crank it.

1 quart (US) is 0.9463529 liters so 2.5 quarts (US) is 2.365882 liters, so to estimate it is between 2 and a quarter and 2 and a half liters. Start by adding 2 liters, and check to see how much more is needed

Wow good math, but my point was in trying to help the guy fill his oil without math. Also my manual is in both standard and metric for every measurement in the book. They reccomend 2.4 litres --just shut your eyes and pour.

O and nobody mentioned to freebyrd, dry capacity and wet capacity also means there is alwys half a quart of old oil in your engine!
