Default SE 180 Rear tire on '08 FXD Pics

Just replaced my back tire at exactly a year from the date I purchased the bike, and 9,350 miles. The 180 didn't make a major difference, but I think it looks a bit better.

This is the Dunlop/HD Screaming Eagle 180. All the talk on the HD website about needing a kit for the wires was hokum. The dealer installed it no problem.

No idea about handling differences yet – I won’t judge that for a couple of hundred miles or so. Here are the before and after pictures:

Looks good man.

Just did the same to mine as well but I managed 11,500 out of my stock tire. I put the wheel back on my self and didnt use the kit either.

I can tell a difference in handling and it goes thru the turns smoother but comparing a tire with 11k+ on it to a new tire isnt really a fair comparison lol

I really like the SE 180. It looks great and handles well. It wore pretty good for me too. I was getting like 9k out of mine if Believe.

Then you did extremely well, the SE 180s have a relatively soft tread compound. They do handle well and I certainly appreciate the traction and stickiness that they have. Mine had several dyno runs and much engine tuning time on them but the best that I got was a little over 6,000 miles before they needed replacement. I don’t do burn outs and I am a reasonably conservative rider. Getting that kind of mileage out of them you are doing very well indeed.

Looks good, I'll do the same when the tire gets thin. Fills out the fender nicely. Is your bike lowered in the back??

No, its all stock suspension-wise. I have no plans to lower it.

Maybe you were one of the lucky ones because I tried to get a dealer to install JUST the tire back in December and they wouldn't do it, not without the "kit".

Looks great. I'd like to put something wider than the 130 that's on my FXDX right now, but I have no idea how wide I can go without modification. (I'm only looking to go to a 180 max, a 150-160 would be fine with me though.)
