Gotta Ask
Lost the cam chain tensioner after 55,000 so told them to put in new rings when they tore it apart. Got it back, ran beautiful, took it back after 500 miles and they put the Royal Purple synthetic in. Started burning oil at about 1-qt. every 500 miles. Smoked a little, they asked me to give it a little time. Gave it until 3,000 mi. Was going on a trip anyway. Got back and still smoking so took it back and had them break it down, inside cylinders were like glass. The synthetic had leaked through the rings. Have put new rings in honed it again hope that will take care of it, anybody else have the unfortunate problem.

Did they hone/de-glaze the cylinders the first time, if they did not there you are and if they did are the bores out of tolerance? 500 miles should have seated the rings if the cylinder was prepped right. Kind of sounds as if you should have went with an over bore kit, etc. I hope it works out for you the 2nd time around.
