I just got my new tires yesterday, late afternoon. I had to work last night, so I'll probably spend the day swapping tires. BTW, they're Metzeler me880's . I got a 170 rear. If any one wants, I post some picks when I'm done with the install.

I have avon venoms. They look good and ride good. The rear only lasted me 4500K. It's time for a new one. When it gets worn it spins in the rain easily and when it's dry It will spin too. I haven't decided if it's worth less miles for better performance. Good luck, I'm on the tire hunt too...

Avon venoms on my bike too, I thought I slipped once.. it was just the paint line on the road. Love the look and stickiness of them!

I have the Metzeler Me880 160 on the rear with over 12k on it, need to replace before winter, but have been extremely happy with them. Have had NO issues with the twisties or torn up roads with the Me880 110 on front.

Joe and Adrian, any reason you didn't go with the Avon Storm in a 180/55 for the rear? Just curious.

cause the 180 Avon storm is not designed to fit our 4.5" rear rims. The 170 fit fine with no issues. There's two 180 wide rear tires that are made to fit our rims right now. I believe its the pirelli tire and the SE 180.

I'll throw in my two cents for what their worth. My dad has lived in 4 states within the last 10 years. His experience is that each state has somewhat different roads. In one state his tires lasted a lot longer than others. He has always run the stock tires on his bikes. He currently has a combined over 100k miles on his two current bikes. What I am saying is that when you read reviews on the net about mileage, you also have to take into consideration the road surfaces may be really different for a guy who gives a bad review compaired to a guy who gives a good one. This also transulates to traction as well. We have alot of blacktop while Mississippi has what almost looks like a pea gravel covered concrete.

I like my 880's

Make sure you search the net for coupon codes for motorcycle super store. I got an additional 10% off mine that way.
