The 2-1 like the Thunderheader, Bassani, or other quality 2-1 will make more power on the dyno across the board.
I prefer the 2-1 sound, and after doing my homework (looking at literally over 100 dyno sheets of various builds and exhausts) I purchased a Bassani RR3. It's a bit louder than the Thunderheader, but other Bassani 2-1 models are quieter than the RR3.
I had short shots from V&H on my 883 with an S&S 1200, big cams, 10.3:1 scr, and they sounded good enough. I was more going for a look on that bike than horsepower.
If you like the look and the sound, then just ask yourself if you are willing to compromise the power by going dual, and if so, buy it. Not everyone is looking to get every last HP or MPG out of their bike. I think you will like the sound.
Personally I like the V&H deep tone of the longer pipes on the Big Shots, I think they are one of the better sounding. It attenuates the harshness of the short pipes, gives a deeper tone, less noise, more good sounds. Also moves the pipes a little further back, which makes long rides more pleasant.

Beside thunderheader, my pops' Fatboy had rinehart duals on there and they sounded so ****ing good. Obviously it's what I grew up with so that's how a Harley sounded to me, but I still think it had a great tone.
The V&H sound really tinny to me, and I ran a bassani 2-1 for a while and its just noise, not as much power as some other 2-1's.

Looks great!
Weight, 541 lb(dry), 563 lb (½ tank-wet). Fuel capacity, 4.4 US gal.
Power: 88 hp @ 9,000 rpm. Torque: 112 lbf·ft @ 8,000 rpm.
KZ1000 is going to whomp on most Dynas right out of the box.
KZ1100 boasts 110hp and 70 ft/tq
Thunderheader (Or any 2 into 1 for that matter) will have better performance. i switched from short shots to a thunderheader for the performance, and my buddy wanted my SS, so i saved some money getting mine. An old saying was told was "Sound, Looks, Performace...pick two of the three."
Free 17" vented screen from Memphis shades. Reached out to them about buffeting. They sent me this to try out. Once I heal up from surgery. I'll be hoping for the best with this one. Gets pretty cold on California mornings I know,. Clean your garage. Im out for weeks with surgery and didn't finish moving in to our new place. It will get done
Had infection running up my tail bone a couple vertabrea. 6" slice open,. Couple inches deep. Lots of stitches great times
