False neutral light
I did a search and need an answer. Yesterday being the Marine Corps B-Day,we went on a ride with about 1000 others to raise money for our vets. During the parade I noticed the neutral light on when in 2nd gear. Shifting to 3rd it would go out. Later in the ride the neutral light stayed on. The tranny is fine but the light stays on. Whats with this? I ride a 2006 FXDBI and just turned 8,000 miles.

There is a recall for many of the 06's for the false neutral caused by a fauly detent arm. Give your VIN to your dealer and see if yours qualifies. If so, its pretty extensive work. Gotta go into the tranny.
Give me an e-mail address and I can send you a copy of the recall provided to dealers.

Got the e-mail, Called the dealer and they said "my bike has no-recalls", Talked to HD in MKE and they said "no-recalls because my build date was 06/06 but will consider". So I guess I am taking it to HD and let them diagnose the problem. &(#^ !!!!!!!!

Don, that recall was for machines built before about Nov 05. mine included.
you may very well have a bad switch. It's on top of the trans. part # 33913-06
Mine went bad a few months back. I think it's around 15 bux.
Same symptoms you describe.
unplug wire. unscrew it. screw in the new one. reattach wire. easy.

First, just take it out, clean it, and reinstall it, (the wire too) and see if it helps, if not you only wasted a few minutes, if so, you saved a few bucks.

Very interesting...my '09 occasionally flashes the neutral light when shifting from 5th to 6th. I don't even bother bringing this up to the dealer based on the rapidly declining relationship I'm currently experiencing (pick your battles to win the war).
