Default Wide rear tire?

Other than looking sweet, are there any other positives or negatives to this conversion? I've heard that "too wide" can result in handling issues, but how wide is "too wide"?

Yeah, you get above a 240 and the curves take some getting used to.

I know that older baggers with a stock MT/130 rear tyre there is a benefit going wider to get a higher load rating, using a 140 or 150. Could also be useful for a Dyna if it is heavily loaded. Much beyond that width is entirely down to style.

How wide you talking? I think that on a smaller frame bike, a 200 would be the max for me. On a larger frame bike like a chopper, a 240. I seen a dyna over this past summer with what looked to be a 240, and it just looked so outta place. Even choppers with a 300 rear looks kinda stupid. IMHO

I just noticed HD has a pretty affordable conversion to 180. Probably won't do it, but it IS winter right now and time to ponder.

It was hard to tell, but if there was a handling change when I went to the 180 rear tire, it was toward the positive. It seemed a little more flickable.
