Cool 11" Covered shocks, FXDX.

Had some spare time today to play around with the bike. I bought these 11" covered shocks a month ago on ebay. They're used, I think I gave about $40 shipped. It's been bugging the hell out of me wanting to try them out, but I haven't had a bike jack until now. My Wife bought me a Sears red/black jack for Christmas. (seemed to work fine for me without any adapters..) Anyway, the bike is still majorly under construction, but here's how a '99 FXDX sits with 11" shocks and stock length forks.

Haha, I knew that would come up. I have the tank jacked up out of the way while I'm working on some things. I leave it lifted so I don't have to jack with the fuel crossover line, makes a mess. I need to put some kind of quick disconnect on there that doesn't leak when taken apart.

I like those shocks. They look like the old FL shocks. If I wasn't so concerned with handling I would run a set of those.

The stock shocks are one of the nicest things about the FXDX, just curious as to why you want to replace them with shorter, non-adjustable ones?

I have an FXDXT and dropping the rear spoils the best handling Dyna Harley made IMHO. As for using cheap secondhand shocks to replace the best shocks seen on a Harley, well that really upsets me! Put your bike back as it was please, there's a good chap....

I had the 11"ers like that on for a while until it my wiring was stripped out of the fender. They will actually compress to 10.5" after riding for a while and stay about that height.

I replaced them with the 12" version of the same shocks and have been happy with them. They compressed to 11.75" but still offer a pretty good ride (although pretty stiff).
