Default Odometer inaccurate on '06 SG?

Took my bike for a long ride today to a destination that I know for a fact is 68 miles. My '06 SG tells me it's 77 miles. That's a prety dramatic difference.

Anyone else notice this? Is it adjustable?

During some speedo research recently, I learned that most vehicle speedos over-indicate your speed, which--so the theory goes--is there way of helping you not to get speeding tickets. I think it's more likely their way of ensuring that they dont get blamed for speed related accidents that could put them at risk. But 13% over, like your speedo, seems excessive. Did you install smaller tires? change gearing in any way?

I checked mine against the freeway mile markers over about 20 miles. Seems to be dead on.

Dakota Digital makes a box that can adjust the signal. Not sure if it will work on the '06 models. Call them and ask. It's the only one I've ever seen.

On that 1933 mile Utah trip last month I checked my speedo, '06 FXDI, against a friends GPS and we were both right on the money for five days straight so it sounds like you go a gremlin some where.

I've read in many motorcycle magazines (while they are reviewing bikes), that motorcycle speedometers are typically off...sometimes by quite a bit. Just this past month, motorcycle cruiser magazine reviewed a new vulcan 900...I believe that speedometer was off by around 10 - 15 percent. This was not the first time I read something like that.
