Can one be used on more than one motorcycle, let's say a Bob and a V-Rod?

nope. the SERT comes with two computer cable, a CD with the maps, and a black box. the black box "marries" itself to your ECU and can't be used on another bike.

Obviously we're in the wrong business, shoulda made them black boxes and I'd be retired in the Bahamas!

Better not buy anything with Windows XP either.........all modern software is designed so the user cannot copy it and reproduce it for free. It's basic copyright law. If the company that makes the SERT didn't do that there would be bootleg SERT software on Ebay for $10 and the company who designed it would not get their investment back. Most people fail to realize that the first Windows 95 program disc cost Microsoft over $50 Million to produce......the second disc cost $.28.......that's why they sell the disc for $300. If they didn't have copyright protection they would have gone out of business long ago.

I also heard that when you instal a sert it matches
with the VIN and makes it useless on other bikes
after that.

Hummmm,....... Not sure why its a POS simply because they are trying to protect their product from theft. I think you will find that the SERT has more tuning features than ANY other EFI control unit on the market. And while I do believe that the SERT is kinda pricey,....I will have to say that you definately do get what you pay for in this instance.

It's by far the best and most comprehensive tuner available. All those car/truck tuners like Hypertech and Superchips do the same thing.

This is not true.

First of all, when tuning and dynoing, the PCIII maps can be downloaded to its module as the bike is running and takes very little time (5 seconds) to update the unit. Using the SERT, the bike needs to be shut off, SERT map downloaded, then restarted each time. PCIII you can change maps on the fly without shutting off the bike. Not a big deal but when tweaking the parameters of the maps this will be a much more time consuming process on the SERT.

The SERT allows for changes with HD SE equipment and that's it. Unless you pay for more combinations which adds to the price. PCIII has literally hundreds of maps for combinations of different aftermarket components. SERT allows for changes in its Screamin Eagle line only. No other aftermarket component maps are included on the CD.

As stated before, there are many, many more maps available to be downloaded for the Power Commander.

The PCIII can be tuned for SE parts for the Harley. The converse is not true for the SERT unless purchased in addition to the SERT. Even at that they have a much more limited map availability than the hundreds available for the PCIII. The SERT cannot be programmed for aftermarket equipment or components unless they are purchased.

This is not to say the SERT is bad. For what it does, it's very good but does have its limitations where the PCIII has an almost unlimited tuning capability and aftermarket support.
