Also about engine painting... After painting my tins with a paint gun and 2K paint(paint with activator), I would recommend anyone to get some 2K paint for the engine! Also apply it with either prevol sprayers or a paint gun or even airbrush. the results will be 1000 time better for durability than anything from a can that is not a 2K paint. Heck H-D sells the texture engine paint in quarts( I assume thinner and activator as well) and there are companies that make texture paint as well available from paint supply store.

I checked the date on the bottom and it was made in july of 09. I was told to use rubbing alcohol to clean the engine for prep before painting. Do you think thats sufficient? I took the can back to the H-D dealership today and they said they cant "warranty" paint or even swap for a newer can. So ill drop another $20 and try it out.

Rounder,
so did you use Harleys texture or a High Temp paint to paint your engine, cause I was reading some of your post and got confused... or did you do both?
thanks

No harder than disassembling the motor and doing what you want to them. You'll need to replace base, cylinder head and rocker gaskets along with have a ring compressor to reinstall the pistons into the jugs. Sounds like a lot of work for just some paint. I'd say if you were doing a big bore or something, then do the paint work then.
