Never use an oily product on the tire or rim.
Seen to may Rocket Kadets use WD and have their tire spin and deflate.
Use Soap and Water.

Rim guards are cheap. Made specifically for what you're asking.

Used to be able to do that around here but the local Indys and dealers figured out we were trying to save money. They started charging minimum one hour labor to change out the tire and balance it.

I bought a tire changer and balancer and I figure it will pay for itself after two tires. I'm doing a buddies tomorrow.

Been using WD on home tire changes for 25 years, never had one slip, ever. Of course I wipe it all down thoroughly before I seat the bead with air.
