Don't feel bad toastman. I carefully got the reflectors off without a scratch but last May after doing the IBA 1,000 mile ride I went to clean the bike up and used SOS pads on the lower fork sliders. Can you say scraaaaatch?
It's ok though sometime in the next week or two I'm going to try and take the wheel off and paint them black.

I didn't use a heat gun or any chemicals just some mono filament fishing line. Then picked off the little bits that were left behind. They aren't stuck on as good as you might think.

+1 for skinning the cat this way. Took about 15 minutes. Use a soft sponge or paper towel with the goo gone and it will peel the residue right off.

In Mass and RI, it's illegal. I put black lower legs on my night train and they wouldn't give it a sticker w/0 reflectors.

I agree Heat Gun or Hair Dryer, just be careful with the Heat Gun they do get very hot don't cook any surrounding parts or bubble your paint. Goo Gone for the leftover sticky stuff.

Just keep in mind that the reflectors are DOT required and there is a risk that a leo may use it to cite you. That's for all 50 states.

i used my finger nails and nothing else, they came off beautifully... also about 3 months ago my stock black lowers started to peel so i went to hd and complained/raised hell and they threw on a set of chrome legs and now she is sexier than ever and they did not put on the stupid reflectors... also i peeled the ones off of my rear fender with my finger nails and it didnt leave a bit of glue or double sided tape whatever it is behind
