Default 18 x 5.5 or 17 x 5.5 rear drop center street bob rim

Ok, guys. many of you have already done the legwork and found a 21 front street bob rim (hoop only). So lets not go there.

Lets see if we can find a wide 17 x 5.5 or 18 x 5.5 drop center rim ONLY to match the drop center 21 x 3.25 front rim everyone is using. This way we can use matching rear tires for our 120 fronts. I am gonna start looking as well. Post results here.

Default ok

When I call wheel builders to buy rims only, I kinda get the just send them in sales pitch. I am kinda just looking for a part number and distributor for a rim that we can lace up ourselves to the oem hub with the stock spokes and nipples.

Default hd wheels

So you think I can call them and tell them what I want and they will know what rim I will need to work with OEM spokes? I really want a drop center rim to mimick the stocker , just in a wider size. Something that will match the Jireh style front rim everyones using. I kinda dig the 17/21 combo. The 18 in a non drop center rear seems to look to open to me. Thats kinda why I went with the 21 drop center front. It looks stock ,but larger and wider.
Most of the guys round here use a 16/21 combo on their chops, so it may be why I like the smaller rear rim. I wish Dunlop made a 502 in a 120 wide for the 21 front. Then I could use the SE 180 and have a matching front. I am so picky that I cant stand having mismatched tires.

A wider rear rim will be needed to allow me the full usage of the ME880 Metz rears, and a nice 120 front.

Black Bike Wheels did mine and they both match, they are the stock style drop center rims.

Default closeup wheel pics

Your bike has been one that has inspired my mods. Blackbike does do great work for sure. How about some close ups of those wheels, something that shows the edge of the lip where the beads seat. Then some side shots just in close up. That would be super cool if you would.

I would prefer a wider 17" too...not a fan of 18" rears..

Why do you guys preffer the 17 5.5 over th 18 5.5?

to me the 18 shows a lot more wheel, and with a low profile tire, the rear fender really hugs the tire... at least 1/2" closer anyways..

Just curious to know what you guys are thinking?
