Default Leaky primary

I have a 2008 FXDC which I had forward controls put on when I purchased it. Lately I have noticed that oil is leaking from the primary cover. It seems to be leaking out of the now, plugged hole from the location of the former mid mount controls. Any ideas as to what could be happening?? Thanks

Inner primary seal ...perhaps . It happened to mine . It was leaking from back around the rear of the primary , not the front though .

Its the tower gasket. It fits between the inner and outer primary covers where they meet to form the shifter shaft tunnel. Here's a picture. Once you take out the shifter shaft, the gasket can move out of position, then you'll get primary fluid leaking out of the tunnel, past the plug. It's a $2.00 part, but to replace it, you have to also replace the primary cover gasket, clutch cover gasket, and replace the primary fluid (add $45.00). I did mine myself because I'm a masochist but you might want to take it back to the dealer because I really think it's a warranty issue.

Default Coop is right

coop is right its a $1.00 gasket and its a simple fix. You should just buy a tower gasket and unbolt the cover and install a new one yourself. Then you can say you fixed it. Buy a service manual so you can study it when problems arise.

Buying a manual sounds like a great idea, but I think I need to leave the fix to the dealer!! lol I am hoping it is something minor!!

A very minor repair, but its a little messy. Also, you should have the right tools. It's an annoying problem caused by a cheap part. Let the dealer do it if you're not into it.

It's a good time to adjust the clutch while it's open.
