Talking ANOTHER ape hanger question....

Yeah yeah I know, it's prolly been beat to death but I couldn't find anything really definitive of what I need to know when I hit the search button soooo here goes. I got some 13" apes I'm about to install (2010 FXD). Is there enough slack under the backbone to accommodate the apes if I get in there and unclip them?(note: not internally wired through the bars)? Or should I just suck it up and get the extension?

I doubt it. I put 2" riser extensions in (until I got apes) and the wires had just enough slack for that. Bust out your soldering iron and do your own extensions, rather than buying them.

That's about what I needed on the test fit to get it to match up with the dimples in the bars. I'll still probably dump the turn signals (an eyesore and a useless accessory imo, unless required by law) which were more of a stretch than the switch harness.
