Default Non-Dyna ? Car windshield

Seeing as I spend almost all of my time in the Dyna forum and everyone seems pretty smart here, I have a car question.

My wife's car got a nice rock chip in the windshield. The windshield repair company that our insurance uses can't come out until Saturday. My insurance covers the whole repair but if the windshield needs to be replaced I have to pay my deductible. I would rather not have to pay that so does anyone know a temporary fix to prevent the chip from getting worse until Saturday when it can hopefully be professionally fixed. Thanks guys.

It depends on how bad it is, if its about the size of a quarter. You can get a. Repair. Kit from the auto parts store

I think I would try a small piece of clear tape on it to kept dirt and water out of it till it can be repaired.

I would say --don't mess with it till you can get it repaired. I work in a body shop and repair/replace windshields all the time. The cheapo repair kits they sell at the auto outlets are inadequate in my opinion. The only thing I can think of until you can get it repaired is to try to keep the glass away from weather extremes (hot and cold). I hope it works out for ya.

You're going to be very unlucky if the windshield splits that fast. Drastic changes in temperature seem to be what causes splits that I've seen. You'll probably be ok, but I would consider the self repair if you are that worried about it. Or, call a different shop.

Try to keep water out of the area. Tape might be the best thing, theauto glass guys here used to give me little stickers for my work truck to cover chips until i could get it in to the shop.
