rattling on the bike

Check your jiffy stand to make sure it is contacting the rubber piece when in the up position. If this happens when you accelerate in 6th gear or are going uphill then it could be detonation/lugging from being too low on the rpms for that OD gear. If it goes away when you downshift to 5th gear then that would be my guess. I have a tachometer so I keep my bike at a minimum 2500 rpm. My best cruise rpm range is 2800.

i am thinking the 6th gear is just because its new. i try to shift into it a little here and there to break it in. i assume it will also run a little better after the new fluids are added. we'll see.
as far as the rattling, i am 100% its the light, i will have them look at it here next week when i get my 1k maintenance.
also, i am using shell's v-power gas.

Thats not a rattle..lugging engine sounds like a heavy tapping sound/ too lean is pinking...the shifter clunks in first.. think we have to make a dictionary of Harley sounds and what they mean/come from

i noticed the other day that when i was in 6th gear there was a rattling noise coming from the bike. it was similar to the noise that happens when i am a little low rpm wise in a gear. only thing is i was going 70-75 in 6th gear. is this normal for a bike under 1000 miles or something i should have them look at.
