Anyone ever use one of these?
Anyone have any experience with these Volt Tech stators. Sorry to say that I think I'm replacing mine for the second time. Since it's not under warranty, looking for the best deal / best part for the money.
These are by far the cheapest, but I've never used any of their electrical parts so ... asking around.
Background (all too familiar to some):
Go to start the bike, clickety, clickety, click. MotherFatherSisterBrother, hate when that happens. (No I didn't leave the lights on or any of that chit.) So I charge the batter overnight and do the volt meter thing at the battery. 12.75, drops when cranking, comes back up to about 12.5 at idle, raise the RPM > 2K but it continues south a point or two every couple of seconds, "running off the battery". Kill it, pull the plug from the altenator to the regulator and ohm out the pins to the stator. 1-2: 0.00, 2-3: 0.00, 1-3: 0.01, so far so good.... next each pin to ground .... bastards, intermittant ground like some capacitance or something but once the meter reaches 0, it stays there.
Anyway, unless someone can tell me for sure that's normal, I'm thinking that I need a new stator.
Looking for advice on if these are a reasonable replacement. The HD ones don't seem to be worth a crap.

The first stator that went out the dealer replaced under warranty and did a full system check. That was about 18 months and 8K mi ago, not a hiccup since then.
Now they want $150 just to run a diagnostic. Without that, is there anything else I can do other than ohm checks. Suppose I could actually run the motor and measure the voltage across stator pins, but not expecting great shakes with them all apparently shorted to ground. Any other ideas?
