I've been looking to step into the harley world for about the past four years. I currently have a 2004 Honda VTX 1300C that is paid for and that I enjoy riding. I've been saving cash so I can buy a nice preowned harley through a private sale. I have the opportunity to pick up a 2007 Street Bob with around 21000 miles on it. Seller is asking $7500 but says he negotiable.
With the economy the way it is I've noticed even some harley owners letting go of bikes at below market value. Does this sound like a deal to everyone on here? I've noticed even older sportsters getting or requesting more money. I'm thinking of offering a little lower just to see what kind of deal I can get.
Without knowing any thing specific about the bike other than miles, it sounds like a decent price. Location, add-ons and maintenance issues could seriously affect the value.
It sounds like a real good deal provided it's in mint condition and you like whatever changes he may have made. If he's negotiable on price maybe you can pick it up for $7,000. The SB is a real nice bike.
What kind of add-ons are on it? Performance upgrades? These things certainly affect the price.
Depending on where you live (if it's winter yet), price might be a touch high. But at the end if the day, if you like the bike and can afford it, who cares - pull the trigger and be happy with it.
It's not mint as it's been stored outside and has some rust on the spokes and exhaust. I'm thinking this could be cleaned off though. Mileage is around 21000 so it's been ridden. As far as I know it's stock.
Again seller is negotiable but I don't want to offend him. If I were to say $6000 cash today is that reasonable or a slap in the face?
Who cares ? Offer him 6k , and if he balks , offer him 6500 . He wont care ....obviously needs the money , so , make the offer . What do you have to lose ?
Agreed Jayson. Some people just take offense to certain things. I worry too much I guess. Gonna shoot him an offer and see if he responds. Will then setup to go look at it.
I'd go look at it with the 6g's in my pocket. If you like what you see pull out the cash. It's one thing to talk and it's another when the $'s are on the table in front of you. Good luck.
