No power (electric)
 

Bike 2009 FAT BOB.
I just had my bike shipped to Germany and had the battery disconnected. When I connected up the battery I have no power at all, no nights, no fuel pump, nothing on the gauge...nothing. My friend tried jumping the battery with his truck (connected to the bat terminals) and still nothing. I took the negative and put it on the frame (shock arm bolt) and I got power...head lights, brake, gauge, flashing key, but NO fuel pump, and wouldn't start.

Yes I know it wasn't a good idea to jump from a vehicle, but he said he did it everyday on his bike when the bat was bad...and I wanted my bike running. Could this of done more harm then good?

We also put the bat on a trickle charger which showed the bat at 75%....Pretty sure it maybe a short or fault in the wiring. :icon_confused:

Have you checked to make sure the maxi-fuse was not pulled when shipped? That would be my first thought.

Nope, we checked the fuse.

Does the bike have a security system installed?

It does have a security system/fob.

It's ok to jump it as long as you are jumping it with 12 volt battery, which most autos are that I know of.

I would clean your battery terminals with a brush. Then make sure the cables are tight (don't over tighten but good and snug) and let it charge over night.
Take the seat off and make sure your ground bolts are snug (mine are on my back fender).

Additionally if that doesn't work (and your FOB battery isn't dead) then take the battery to a parts store that will run a load test on it. Sometimes when a battery undergoes a temperature change it can cause an old batter to go bad from plate flexure.

Would it be possible your alarm needs to be reset, that can disable the system

Check both sides of the NEG. ground cable

Take a multimeter and check all the fuses..make sure the battery is good and keep it on a tender.
