Default I spilled a few drops of brake fluid on my tank...

How long does it take for brake fluid to damage paint? I was changing my master cylinder cover yesterday, and spilled a few drops on my tank. I immediately wiped it up and then sprayed it with auto glass cleaner and wiped that off, then repeated that process 3 more times. My tins are brilliant silver denim, so there's no clear coat to protect it. Should I expect to repaint my tank?

ive done that before. my damaged the clearcoat so it was a bit different scenario than yours. i think the brake fluid was on my paint for only a few moments before i could grab something to wipe it off.

If you clean it up fast enough, which it sounds like you did you should be alright.....I think if your paint is damaged by the brake fluid you would know pretty quick....

Your bike does have a clear powder coat clear, its just got a flatting additive added in. Every harley since 2009 have clear powder coat applied on top of the base coat

I would think it should be ok. You would probably notice something by now.

Hard to say if you have future damage potential, or not. When you look at the area(s) at different angles - do you see any blemishing? If not & you got it off quickly - probably good to go...

Dot 5 brake fluid does not harm paint. I'm assuming this is what you're using. Read this...http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/DOT_5

I was told by a painter that even the denim paint from Harley has some type of clear on it!
