Default Detachable back rest

Hi new to the site, Just picked up a 2011 Fat Bob and wondering how differcult is it to install a detachable back rest? Deal told me about an hour and a half to install hardware. Has anyone done this? Looks pretty straight forward to do but is there more than what i am seeing?

Thanks

Sound's to me like the dealer is ripping you off if you are referring to the detachable sideplates and bar. It's just 4 screws to attach the bar to the sideplates and two screws to attach the pad to the bar. For the Docking hardware you just pull one strut bolt at a time and replace it with the longer bolt and docking point. I'd say a half hour would be more than enough.

Thanks, I thought that's all it took to change out. I wanted to check making sure no hidden assembly that I was not seeing. I am looking to add a good rest. I am also looking at possible adding a detachable windsheild for long trips, Also putting on different foot rest that can support heels.

I picked up the bike Sat with 4 miles on and an now got 114 miles. I love the handling. Looking forward for more better weather so I can enjoys.

However, I will say that pulling the strut bolt can be rather complicated w/o the proper tools. I started that process and then couldn't get the bolt out and then needed to jack the bike up to drop the rear tire to make enough room.

Maybe the Street Bob is different the the Fat Bob, on my 2010 Fat Bob the bolt just threads into the fender support from the outside and nothing on the inside needs removed...

Welcome to the forums. If you haven't already bought the backrest you might check out the pricing at Zanotti's. They ROCK

Mine was easy to do. Pick up some Red Locktite. Anyone have a solution to the rattle when going down the road and no one on the back?

Thanks

First congratz and welcome. I complained to my dealer about that rattling noise so he started to go into soloutions and went to ask his tek why the rattle and is that normal, discouraged, I left and decided to wrap some electricians tape around the docking point and that was that- no more noise!

P.S. don't over tighten the bolt because the cheap piece of metal inside the fender wil just snap on ya
