Ohlins Installed... WOW!
I never felt my Street Bob rode bad....then I bought a Lepera Bare bones seat....I felt like I was riding a brick, felt every crack and pebble. THEN I put the Ohlins on. There just is no way to describe it, other than pure heaven.
If you do enough searches on here like I did. You will find that about 95% of folks who got rear Ohlin shocks from Howard....went right back and got the forks done. One you get the rear done....it really shows you what you're missing in the front. I also wanted to go with Dual discs on the front....so it was a logical plunge.

You only know as good as your used too. The Fat Bob does handle nice but you would be amazed at what an upgraded suspension will make it do. In my opinion suspension upgrades are better than engine mods.
I'll never badmouth Ohlins! Even back in the late 70's they ruled the offroad bike racing scene mounted on factory Huskies.
I went with Ricor though. After watching their Baja race car boogie through the whoops with the car's cab maintaining an undulating and smooth plane, I knew they were on to something.
I have not regretted it. I actually speed up for R/R track crossings, when I used to slow down. My front is also Ricor. I like to buy American and the Ricors are made right here in the USA, plus they are very very hard to beat at any price.

Before I put on my Ohlins I was thinking about some engine mods. These new shocks let me use more of the power without getting squirrely so I kinda backed off on that (for awhile at least). The more power you add to the bike the more it really needs upgraded suspension.
I purchase Ohlins rear shocks last summer from Howard at Motorcycle Metal. Improved the handling and comfort substantially....but it also brought my attention to how inadequate the stock front end suspension is. This did not sit well with me, so I saved up and I just purchased the Ohlins drop in cartridges from Howard, I am planning on converting to dual disc, so I had him build both forks from the ground up. I plan on installing them possibly over the weekend if time permits.
If your experience is anything like mine, you're going to be real happy!

Jay,
Isn't amazing? I can't believe how much a difference there is. It immediately convinced me to contact Howard, and that's why I am currently waiting on my new front forks!!
I've had them installed a while, but the pic is after I put them back together last weekend, with powder coated mounts, acorn nuts and spacers. I also cut about 1/4" off the length. I think it came out pretty nice looking.
I just don't see why anyone would buy ANY other shocks for their Harley. Howard is the man. Great customer service, and more knowledge than anyone on the subject.

Are your shocks :

They are S36DR1 in 12''..? Are you enjoy with us ?
Thank's !
Has anybody here experienced Olhins shocks on an Electra? Mine is a '12 Ultra Classic and I'd like to be able to adjust rear suspension to have a smoth riding when 2 up.
Any suggestion?
Another question: I have been on Olhins website and it seems that there is a Ohlins model TTX with separate comp and rebound remote control (If I understood correctly!).
Any experience on this one?

My thanks go out to Howard at MotorcycleMetal.com. (HD Forum Sponsor)What a guy! We installed the Ohlins 36PRCLB shocks in the rear. My Street Bob's ride is super smooth while also giving me a new sense of confidence through corners. Next project will be the front forks. Its amazing how last week I thought the front forks were fine but now that the rear suspension is actually working the way it should it shows off the deficiencies of the front suspension.

After you change out those dive bombing slinkies you will be even more impressed.
People who haven't upgraded their suspension have no idea what they are missing.
I wish I wasn't such a wuss... I'm worried about tearing in to my front end..... for some reason I have this feeling that once I get it apart it's going to be like a Rubix Cube to get it back together and I can't afford not to have my bike operational. Short seasons here means one weekend with out the bike is not an option!
