Don't take my word for it. Read all the threads, yourself--they're pretty easy to search. The bikes that have had trouble with this have been highly modified (as in vastly more HP) and worked on by amateurs, and the bikes are generally having the **** beat out of them, rode like they'd been stolen.

Roger that! I don't plan to do any of the above to mine.

Thanks again and ride safe.

So just to be clear, if I buy a new FXDC and leave it factory-stock this issue shouldn't be a problem?

Thanks for the clarification and info.

I have a 2009 softail night train and I have experienced my pulley bolts shearing.. Long story short is my wheel and pulley is toast. Does anyone know what the part number would be for the ARP pulley bolts? I do not want this to ever happen again and want to use some bolts such as ARP.. Secondly, does anyone know the measurements on a pulley bolt for my bike? Since all mine broke off I need to find out..

Thanks everyone so much for the help

According to th 2008 softail part manual, all models used HD PN 3109. Not sure what thread size that is though, might be different. FWIW, all 2007 Dyna's used 3109 as well.

No, you'll need H-D p/n 3109 Screw, 7/16-14 X 2-5/8 hex cap w/washer, lock patch.

Go here to ask ARP if they have this size bolts:

The bolts sheared on my Heritage a couple of months ago. 88 Inch motor, stock except for pipes, intake and cams. And I ride like an old lady out on Sunday afternoons.
