i put my own 14 inch apes on and had to extend the electrical wires. it was hard. it did take awhile but thats cause of the electrical wires. to get the wires through the bars, use a strong string first and use a vaccume to suck the the string through the holes. then tape the wires to the string and pull. other then the rest is just a couple nuts and bolts, so to speak
Some bars offer them pre-wired, since you have to cut and splice anyhow it may save you some time. Some bars also can be bought with guide wires built into them to make it easier to run your internal wiring. Check some of the threads on here.
Not hard, but you need to take your time .... if it takes 5 days, but turns out perfect you'll be much happier in the end. Mask the bars, cover the tank and fender, be careful, and use this forum to learn how to take apart electrical connections.
Changed bars a few times until I broke a brake light switch; then I read the manual...replacing that switch was like surgery with a soldering iron...if you have any mechanical aptitude, can read the service manual and are patient, you should do OK. You only have to do it right once...
yea blackmetal it isnt all that hard but it does take some time, i went with 16`s and with changing all the cables .bleeding the brakes extending the wires i probably had 6-8 hours in it , i lost time initially trying to figure out how to get the wires out of the plugs.
