Default Put a Hole in my saddlebag last night

Went for a short ride last night and I heard a thump. I was less than a 1/2 mi from home so when I I got home noticed the left saddlebag had a about a 3" gouge on the inside bottom. I've been running these bags for a while with no problems. I can't see how it rubbed on the pulley. I have about 2" clearance to the belt guard. I just can't see how or what caused this. Any one ever have this happen or maybe have any ideas?

Yep! Mine came untied from the directional. I tie them to the directionals to pull the bottom out away from the pulley.

Did you have it loaded with anything heavier than normal?

Do you have the brackets on it to keep the bags off the drive train?

The bags have hard plastic backs and I backed them with stiff sheet metal, then I used a spacer to move them out from the fender strut. I don't see how they could have hit the pulley but thats the only thing that could have happened. There was nothing heavy in the bags just a pair of gloves.

Are you supposed to use those with the hard backed bags?

Do you have a picture of your setup? Might be easier to diagnose the cause...
