Default Best Way to Trailer My Fat Bob

I know nothing about hauling a bike but a few times a year I do go places where I would love to have my bike but need to bring too much luggage (and dogs and wife) to ride it there.

I want to have it be safe and the trailer to be durable but don't really want to drop $1,000+ for a few times a year and then need to have a big space for storage.

Are their any tips you guys got? Tire size and type? Utility trailers? Can you make decent ones yourself?

Thanks....

Make sure it has a Torsion axle if you want a decent ride.

For as little as it sounds like you'll use it.... you can rent 4' x 7' utility trailer for $15/day and still have room to pack stuff around the bike like coolers and camping gear.

Renting is an excellent idea actually.

Realized that a couple years back. Sold my trailer because my bike never saw it. Worried about when i would need it. Then realized i could rent an enclosed U-Haul trailer and as long as you deliver it back to the same place you picked it up, its actually pretty cheap.....

U-Haul rents an awesome motorcylcle trailer for < 20 a day with tax. I rented one recently and it had a built in chock and nice tiedowns. I have rented enclosed before but they don't have good tiedowns for a bike. It would cost be $80 a month to store and register a trailer. For that it is easier to rent a u-haul for my occasional use.

Again, totally awesome advice. I have a tow hitch on my SUV just no trailer...the UHaul thing sounds cheaper and way easier....thanks!

Yep, I take the bike to AZ in February every year, and can not ride due to winter temps and snow here. Renting is the easiest.

Called U-Haul, yep easy and $14.95 a day. Only bad thing is they have a 5 day max but I guess I should check doing 2 one way rentals except the place I go is 3 miles from the end of the world so the Uhaul there might be a bit limited...
