What would you do?
If you had 600-800 bucks max to spend on upgrading the suspension/handling how would you go about it? I have an 2008 fxd with stock suspension. I see everything about the true-track, ricor intimidators, progressive etc. 90% I am solo but do take the old lady out. This was my first bike so I like to think it handles like a dream but everyone says it does not. I do all kinds or riding. Not one thing specific.
If you want to start with something I would recommend the true-trak you can't go wrong with that, you will notice it both with the suspension and the handling. Ride for awhile and figure out what you need next.
It only rides as good as you know. The situation arises when you make improvements then you know a difference and you don't want to go back. As far as improvements just about any rear shock is better than factory. In the front I like straight rate springs with RaceTech cartridge emulators.
Hi All, Dude... If I had 6-800 $ to spend on my bike... it certainly would NOT be on suspention up-grades unless I was planning on doing som serious canyon carving!! Remember what you're riding.... The lap of Americanna, Enjoy the ride. There are so many out there that would trade parts of their body to be in your place! (Lucky You) Take te time to evaluate your needs depending on your driving demenure. For me, It's all about the ride... having comfort and cofidence with your motor is EVERYTHING.....Think about it..... and remember...Chrome wount get you home...Best wishes... H.T.
P.S. There is one thing I've added to my suspention. It has nothing to do with the ride except during emergency situations. Harley offers a fork brace to link the left and right lowers together. Less than $200 bucks, that will all but eliminate the death wobble should you have an unexpected critter or other road junk strike with speed.

I've got a 2010 FXDF (Fat Bob), and like you, I think my bike handles great. I've done a number of mods to the bike, starting with the engine and changing rims/tires, but honestly have never considered upgrading the suspension. I guess it does depend on how you actually ride though, and that's going to be your call. As for me, call me lame and lazy, but if it were my money, I'd put it elsewhere.
Fighthedude,
I've ridden ultra fast sport bikes with serious suspensions for over 20 years, so I know what a "good suspension is".
I too think the Harley suspension suits me just fine and I regularly drag pegs unintentionally.
While there is absolutely nothing wrong with "upgrading your suspension". If you like it the way it is, may I suggest that you don't bother spending the money.
Can you make it better? Of course you can, but I firmly believe that if it ain't broke then don't fix it.
That's my 2 cents.
