Default Changed oil seal on front forks - questions

2006 Low Rider FXDLI

1. Anyone know the socket size on the top caps of the fork? I used a cresent wrench to get them off and on but now I'd prefer to torque to spec.

2. The oil I drained was yellow/green I have no clue what was put in by the indy originally... the new oil is red HD brand E fluid. All good or a problem?

3. The bottom bolt (on very bottom of lower fork leg) doesn't torque it keeps turning and turning (with good amount of force) but is pretty tight, problem?

Nevermind #1 I found it to be 35mm or 1 3/8" on another thread...

Do you know the torque spec? I have to change springs on a Street Bob in the morning.

I don't believe there is a listed torque spec for the cap. I can tell you though when you tighten it do it with the top triple clamp loose.

The bottom bolt on the slider is best done using an air impact.

I also use a crescent for the caps. Don't worry about the bottom bolt. It's probably tight enough.

Yeah rattle gun on the bottom bolt, only on a light setting to get it to stop spinning then torque it up. Cap certainly does have a torque setting, don't just wing it. Yes do that with the top clamp loose. Not home at the moment so can't supply the correct setting sorry.

I don't have the manual in front of me but the top bolt was 17ftlbs to 38 or something like that....

For my bottom bolt I can't torque it because it spins, I just used the impact wrench and will hope for the best...

I bought one o them short 1 3/8 sockets off of ebay for the fork caps, even had an o -ring to protect the finish but it was so shallow you could`nt keep it on the cap. well made but did`nt work well for me, it was designed so you could take the caps off without removing the bars.

much easier to just remove the bars and use a standard socket

Just make the caps tight, you don't need to go wild on them they have o-rings.
New oil rings right?
Whay springs are you putting in?
