Default Hd led head light

I bought the hd led headlight for my 09 low rider the other day, when looking at the box I pointed out to the parts guy that it said you must have so and so part number for I think 06 and up dyna except for wide glide. Anyway we ordered it and when I got home and looked on the hd site I realized it's a head light housing.today I decided to try and put the led in after reading some posts about filing a tab and making them work on some bikes.well mine went right in with no filing at all. What I'm wondering is, since leds can overheat, is the replacement housing bigger than stock to allow more air space in the housing for cooling? Mine was a PERFECT fit. The replacement housing looks the the same size on the site pic.

That's the first time I've ever heard that LEDs overheat. They run cooler than just about any other type of light. They do have to have some sort contraption that I can't recall the name of right now, for them to work right. Maybe that's the reason for the extra room. To house the contraption.

I believe the contraption is a load handler hahaha but I'm pretty sure you only need that for LED turn signals so they don't blink super fast. Not sure at all about LEDs overheating. I know the XENON lights on my truck run hot but I thought LEDs were very low low heat. Thats why they last so long.

Once adjusted right it's super on the open road and awful on twisty roads! It needs WAY WAY WAY more top spill! Like the bottom has. The top of the light cuts off in a near perfect straight horizontal line. I can't imagine why they did that! Gonna have to try it a while longer and see what I think.
