hardtail street bob?
Has anyone fabbed a strut to turn their bob into a hardtail? A friend did it with his sportster and it transforms from sportster to rigid bobber in less than 30 mins. Has me curious
Like previous posters have mentioned there are tons on ebay, bad idea on a Dyna as the swingarm is not solid mount to the frame so you will have huge amounts of swaying. Also the search function is your friend, there is a post on this every other week.
My bike a FatBob, in the picture has 10" struts on it at the time the picture was taken. I loved the profile and the ride, I have ridden many a mile on hard tails over the years, so a swing arm system just seemed too soft to me (too much movement in the back-end).
I since have switched over to 10.5" Burley shocks because a FatBob's swing arm is connected to the transmission housing and not the frame as with a Sportster. This will cause damage down the road to these great bikes, as in causing stress cracks to the transmission housing.
Do as you like it is your bike, just be forewarned as to the consequences of this type of modification.
PS: Skid Lid, said it before me, it is a technical thing with these Dynas, not just all the neigh say'ers, because they feel it's to rough on their backs and butts. As all the old bikes were hardtailed from the factory.

On the rubber mount Sportsters it's kind of connected to both (the frame and the tranny) through the rear rubber mount.
OK, I stand corrected..........I was going by memory (which is not what it used to be), on this.
