Default Dyna vs. Road King

Hey guys,
I'm buying a Harley very soon. I looked at a 2001road king with 22000miles and a 2001 Low rider with the same miles. I loved both. I've had a low rider before and loved it. But going two up is not as nice as the touring bikes. I'm just interested in any thoughts from any of you of the advantages of having either one. Thanks.

If it was me I would consider the Road King if you know you will have a passenger often. I'm in love with my Road King and I will never ride anything else. But a Lowrider's a little lighter and you could throw it around a little better if you're into that.

Which means it handles better.

Stripped down Road Kings look tuff.....

I was eyeballing one at the Bubba Blackwell show today at the dealer and thought it would look great without the bags, turn signals, and a set of better wheels. The FL style headlight bezel does it for me.

Cant go wrong with either one, they all take work to make them nice.

I would all depend on the type of riding your going to be doing. Around town, and a few hours at a time... 100% the Low Rider. If your going to take off on open road trips with alot of stuff and a passenger, then the RK would be a better choice. The size of a guy you are could have some bearing on it too.

Wife and I put a pile of miles on my T-Sport with a sundowner/backrest combo. We've ridden an RK together and she liked leaning against the tour pack that it had added to it, as well as the protection of the table-top sized windshield but I sure prefer the all around versatility and handling ease of the FXDXT...we also did the Tail of the Dragon this spring on a FLTX with a 120R motor; she said it was comfy but prefers to ride her own Low Rider now...no going back to 2-up. I was surprized how well the huge Road Glide handled once it got under way, but it sure was heavy at slower speeds!

You and your riding style are the best way to determine which is best for you. However, what about price? If one is a much better deal, go that route. They're both great bikes so you really can't go wrong.

I started on a Road Glide and moved to a FXD because I'm 5'7", 135lbs and I don't usually do more than 100 or so miles at a time. For me, it was a no brainier because the FXD is a lot better in the short runs and in the city.
