Default Turn signal Relocation Help !!!!

Bought my wife the rear turnsignal relocation Kit for her Sporty. I made the mistake of reading the directions in the kit, instead of using good old common sense. I snipped the wires at the connectors and now I do not have the proper Crimp tool to attach the AMP connectors to the wires. Does any one know where I can buy the proper crimp tool? My local Stealer told me the tool was 300 buck’s!!!! I told where he could put the tool. Any help is greatly appreciated.

I soldered the bare wires and shrinkwrapped them instead of using the connectors. Much easier.

That is what I should have done. Unfortunately I read the directions for once in my life and now I'm screwed.

Why is it that you are screwed? Just use some heat shrink tubing and solder. Or you can buy the butt connectors with the low temp solder already in it and they have the heat shrink already on the outside. You can also use the small bullett type dissconnects with the weather seal on them. All can be had at any automotive parts store for a few bucks.

Wish it were that easy......... The directions have you cut the wires off at the end right after the terminal. The terminals are gone, now you need to attach the new terminals to the wire. The terminals then plug into a plastic receptical that plugs into the tailight wiring harness. Any sugestions on a good crimping tool?

I believe you should be able to crimp the AMP connectors with nothing more than a pair of needle nose pliers. I just recently relocated rear signals for a friend and that is the what I used.

I have used the wrong tool for this job with mixed success as well. I'd swing by the dealer first and head to the service desk and ask if they'll do it for you real quick. I'd be surprised if they won't do it.

If you can't take the wires you need with you, then maybe they can crimp on some wire leads for you that you can butt splice into your wires.

If they won't do it, crimp them in stages with a needlenose to curl as needed instead of crimping flat.

Just go to Lowe's or Home Depot and head for the electrical section. There hanging on the wall panel you will see all of the crimp tools and the Klein tools. The crimp tool you are looking for is a Klein #1005 and it is about 10 to 12 inches long, has red plastic on the handles, black in color and it will cost you about $20 to $22 and can do any crimping you will ever have to do.........pg

If you have to replace the terminals, it would still be easier to solder. Just solder the terminals to the wires then seal. But if you want to crimp, any auto parts store sells them for $10-$15.
