Default Headstock Fork noise while stopping

I'm thinking I might have some head bearing problems, I know there has been posts about this previous but couldn't find them. When I come to a stop it feels like there might be a little play in the triple tree head stock area, almost feels like a chattering feel. New bearings? Adjustment to something? Any help would be great. O it's a '07 Street Bob. Cheers.

Have you done your steering head adjustment as per the manual and checked your fall-away?

How do you adjust steering head? I don't have a manual.

No, that would be a good start, I also have read that a new crush washer is probably in order, I will grab one from the stealership, and wait for the snow to melt, the bike is tucked away for the winter in the back shop........April can't get here fast enough!

Put bike on a stand so the front wheel is off the ground. Turn bars should not "fall away" until you have turned it almost an inch. Don't tighten with top nut though, need to take the top tree off

You can tighten it up without taking the upper tree off. I was able to anyway.

Just take the cap off the top nut. Loosen the top nut and then tighten the star nut under the top tree, lil bit at a time, until the fall away is set properly. Then just retorque the top nut back on and put the cap back on and you are done.

P.S. - I did all this with the front end of the bike off the ground. Just get it up enough where all the weight is off the frontend. Give the bottom of front tire like an inch or less of clearance.

I'll have to put in my Burly Slammer springs after winter buggers off, so I'll do it all at the same time as I'll have it off the ground then anyway. Thanks guys.

I had a similar noise and it ended up being the front gas tank mounting bolt that was loose.
