excitement and panic
is it bad that i wanna dump my 96 in my 11 SB already hahahah. Was looking into the fuelmoto 107s but these 120's sure do seem like screamers. Cant wait to see numbers and see how it goes with the carb setup
I believe the margins on the engines are not as good as normal parts. Since this is a 2002-2005 it lists for ~6$ and I get 15% off. The new model motor is $5500 so they can be had for under $5K. Still got to buy a clutch and a carb/intake at the minimum.
I am power coating the head covers and the timing housing since they are chrome (the FXDX is all black
)
Next will my old engine's cam position sensor work is the final issue to solve. HD says yes.
From my research this is the most cost effective method of upgrading to a large CI engine. Being a crate motor outside more internal work it is bolt-up w/o much labor.
I hear there is a price increase in the future on this motor. It was introduced at a low cost to gain a strong market. The demand is very high so HD is going to raise the price soon. This came from a independent shop - not my dealer
I am initially going with belt drive, but if I has issues its going chain final drive. I am not going to change any internals on this round. That is to fuel the future need for power, which hopefully never happens. Being used to a 95 CI this should be a dramatic change.
Lastly, not sure about my exhaust. I just took delivery on a LSR-II from R&B racing for my 95CI. I bought it in Oct and it just came. If it isn't good enough for the 120R I am getting the D&D. Had I known I was going this route I would have bought the 2" version of the LSR's, but that would have limited the performance of the 95 CI. Live and learn...
