Cheap and Good Saddlebags for Dyna
Raidernut, Im also considering the Saddlemen Teardrop Custom fit and the turn signal relo is not a big deal for me. What did you have to to do above and beyond the regular install? Ive seen alot of posts that the hardware is incomplete or wrong.
Bobby9621 I like the rigid's but their 700 on harley. Anywhere cheaper?
Thanks
Hi, check out saddlebags from Tsukayu.com. I've been running a set for 7 yrs. Excellent quality, real fiberglass, different mounting systems available, all at prices approx 1/2 or less of comparable stuff. They where great to deal with and all pricing included shipping. It tooks like 5 days to arrive.
mine are the medium sized bag, perfect fit on the bike. I had to make custom signal light mounts, you can buy the bags now with built in LED signals. FWIW Fastrider

These are actually sport bags but fit a Dyna perfectly, w/o any supports. I had them on a DL1000 Suzuki, but put them on the Dyna when a multi day trip required more luggage. They fit great, and no relocation of anything was needed. 24 ltr each for both sides. They are still on the Dyna, and are filling up with Harley stuff... tp

You can go off brand and save a lot, just gotta search, they are out there, but I personally don't know where. Google search "Harley or Dyna Saddlebags rigid" That's what I would do.

The throw-over naugahyde bags are the cheapest to be had. But two problems I had with um. One the harness tends to rub the paint off my fender and two the bags just kinda slop around and rub paint off whatever they drag against, and they tend to not hold their shape well.
So I cut up some Ace Hardware plexiglass and installed it inside the bags with stainless button head bolts and aluminum nuts. I drilled all the holes and pre-mounted the plexi-sheet first on the outside to mark the holes. I punched the holes first with a sharp awe and then drilled the material with a sharp bit. Used a wood block inside to hold the material against the bit. That restored the shape.
I bought some Drag Specialty lower braces to to keep them off the frame etc. To mount them I got rid of the old harness wrap and I made the mounting brackets from aluminum angle. A 3/4 angle I drilled to bolt on the bikes fender braces and I bolted a wider angle on the bag itself with a flat bar inside.
Here are some pics, cheap and functional
