I have a 2011 S/B the rear fender is cracked from the rear light assembly all the way down to the end of the fender. Rode it to the dealer Saturday (135 miles 1 way) service took some photos and I will get word tomorrow if they will coevr this under the warrenty. The service manager said it shouldnt be a big deal.

 

I think that they should cover this problem. I believe that how you approach the service department has a lot to do with the help you receive. Tell them that this is a well documented problem. Also the individual dealer seems to matter. Start off being polite and let them know that it is a known issue. Good luck.

 

this is why i got rid of my fender and light

 

I side mounted the plate shortly after I got the bike. It's almost three years old now with 16000 miles and no problems. The plate hanging off the tail light is the problem not the light itself.

 

I got mine replaced. It took about 6 weeks to come in. I'd had my bike painted and requested a gloss black instead of my factory denim but they would only replace with my factory color. I also did not get this done at my purchasing dealership. I was surprised Denny's in Springfield, mo did it as they would not warranty a battery when the bike was less than 2yrs old and still under factory warranty. But they did so whatevs

 

i have a 2012 flat black rear fender ill sell, it has a few minor scratches on the sides from when i removed it

this fender has the plate on the inside to prevent this cracking
